Age policy

Before any content is visible - before the map, before a single venue - you enter your date of birth. It is an actual date entry, not an “I'm over 21” checkbox, because a checkbox measures nothing.

The gate runs again on every fresh install. Your date of birth is stored with your account and cannot be edited afterward; if it was entered wrong, contact hello@lineup-app.org and be ready to show ID.

If you are under 21, Lineup still works, but it is a smaller app. You see venue hours, addresses, and event listings - the things a 19-year-old legitimately needs, like when the all-ages show starts.

You do not see, and cannot access:

- drink specials and deal redemption,
- cover pricing,
- crowd reporting (reports are 21+ because they require being inside),
- any content that describes or prices alcohol.

The gate flips on your 21st birthday automatically. Nothing to request, nobody to email.

At 21+, everything in the product is available: live crowd levels, covers, tonight's specials, reporting, rallies, and coded deal redemption. Deal redemption still requires ID at the door - a phone screen is not an ID, and no bar on Lineup treats it as one.

We never display your date of birth. It does not appear on your profile, in friend views, in venue dashboards, in rally screens, or anywhere else in the product. Friends can't see it; venues can't see it; it is not part of any social surface.

It is used for exactly one computation - are you 21 yet - and for nothing else. See the privacy policy for how the rest of your data is handled.

A hard 21+ lockout invites everyone under 21 to lie, and then the product is built on false birthdays. Our approach removes the incentive: enter your real date of birth and you still get a useful app today, plus the full one automatically at 21. Enter a fake one and you're risking permanent account loss under the terms - for content you could have waited for.

This structure is also what app store policy and New York law expect of a nightlife product: alcohol-related content is gated by verified age tier, not by an honor system.

Nothing in Lineup gets anyone into a bar. The app does not verify identity for entry, does not vouch for age at the door, and no screen in the app is designed to be shown to a bouncer as proof of anything. Bars card the way they always have; drink specials require ID; the door's decision is final.
